Residential Treatment

The Residential Treatment Center program provides long-term care
for male and female children and adolescents, ages 6 through 18
years old, with severe emotional and behavioral problems. The
mission of the program is to consistently provide rehabilitation
and treatment to psychologically challenged adolescents and their
families in a therapeutic setting, utilizing a model of
trauma-informed care. The length of stay can range from a few
months to a year.
With an acute inpatient unit on-site, we are able to
successfully treat more challenging youth that may have occasional
need for stabilization during their treatment. Our program
follows the medical model, which entails Registered Nursing care,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Services provided on-site:
- Residents are evaluated at least weekly by a child and
adolescent board-certified psychiatrist
- Individual therapy is provided weekly by an independently
licensed therapist/social worker
- Group therapies are provided daily, which
include: trauma-focused sessions, anger management, coping
skills, chemical dependency education, and daily living skills
- Family therapy is provided to resolve conflicts, and to enhance
the transitional process to the home or another less intensive
setting
- Educational services are provided, Monday through Friday, by
certified teachers
- Recreational activities and experiential therapy are utilized,
which includes the use of our Alpine Tower
The program goals are:
- to empower residents in their recovery by educating them about
their own individual mental health needs
- to provide a safe environment that fosters an atmosphere of
trust and respect
- to assist residents in understanding that thoughts and feelings
relate directly to risk taking behaviors and peer decision
making
- to encourage residents to use coping skills to control and
alter negative behaviors
